Principal’s Welcome

Welcome to Templestowe Heights Primary School. My name is Anne Matthews and I am the principal of the school.

2013 is going to be a very exciting year for us! Our building program is now completed!toward completion. We now have modern 21st century classrooms, art room, library and large multi-purpose room. Our canteen and uniform shop facilities will be upgraded and a brand new administration wing has been added. During the last two years our sport and play facilities have been improved and added to. We have a full size gymnasium, three extensive areas of playground equipment, an oval, synthetic turf court area, gardens and passive play areas.

At Templestowe Heights we are committed to providing the best possible educational opportunities for our students. The focus is on the individual child, their welfare, and their learning. We are committed to the philosophy of developmental learning and consequently we choose to organise our classes in multi age groups because we know that this is the best way to cater for every student’s individual learning needs. Educational research supports that a multi age structure is at the forefront of highly effective teaching practice.

In 2010 we introduced Individual Learning Plans for all students. Our Teaching & Learning coach began in 2010 working with all teachers to better implement ongoing and accurate assessment of all students, and using this to plan teaching programs that address every child’s needs.

We continue to strengthen our literacy and numeracy programs. The first two hours of each day will be dedicated to literacy teaching and learning in all classrooms. Learning will be supported by up to date computer technologies. All classrooms have interactive whiteboards, desk top and netbook computers as well as video and digital cameras.

Templestowe Heights is certainly moving forward. We have a committed and enthusiastic staff, who work hard for all our students. All sections of the school community work happily and positively together. I trust you will enjoy looking around our website.
